In deep space, we have a small group of bounty hunters living in late 2071. What we have is a hot woman, not past the age of 20 years old who gambles away everything, and see herself as more or less better than everyone else. The fast kick-ass cool Spike who skills let alone his shot is something to not be rivaled. Then we have the head of the Bebop ship, Jet and the wild and crazy Ed. Along with the super smart dog Ein, they are the crew of the bebop bounty hunters just looking for some cash.
We start our story out on Mars, a group hit a shuttle car with a deadly virus, when a bounty goes out on those who cause it, the crew it let alone bored and low on cash. So we are taken done a wild and crazy path learning more about the characters and meeting new ones.
I have to say it was super. I really didn’t have a problem with it. Some things that Ed did where a bit over the top and some lines where a bit too much for my taste. I thought overall it was a good job and it shows. For this being a movie to a series that for the most part is short, and that fact the main character Spike dies in the last episode of the series and this movie takes place between the last two episodes. So with that in mind, I think they did a good job telling the story and to end on a high note or less. I thought the best job was done by Spikes character, we don’t much from him at this time we do. I was very happy with how it was dub and one of those rare anime’s that is dub right.
What can I say other then it was very good. Unlike the anime series where the budget had to fix a set number of episodes to do, this one had more money to put more detail into the animations and overall come out with a better picture. In this case, this is what happens and I was very happy with it. It very details animation cells, you know when it’s good when you look at an anime woman and for a sec, you could think she’s real. Which with today’s anime and cartoons they are getting very close to “real life”. In any case, it did not hurt the movie at all. The fights were just thrilling and when you add in the way Spike moves, into the higher cell rates it makes for a better movie overall.
We begin out the story on Mars, a few days before Halloween 2071. Our crew of bounty hunters ends up going after this group of bad guys as they release a deadly virus on some people. At first, they don’t care but being short on cash and now a reward for them, they’re up to the hunt. Being that this is based on the series, its very good overall story. Not to hard to follow, and does a great job showing each character. Even if you never saw the anime series you could very easily connect with the characters here. Most of all Spike. In the series, not much is know about who he is and his back history, only a few things to basically set up the ending. Even so, you get a feeling of knowing them and that makes for a good story.
The one thing that really kicks off the anime and the movie is the music. I thought the music was good. A Jazz style to it if you will and the opening and ending themes are one of the best around. You can see that they did a create job with this movie and it shows.
I have to believe that the fans took well to this movie. I’m not one to say people didn’t like it. I have to say its one of those anime’s that well if you didn’t watch it from the beginning, not by I mean the series but the movie in general; you will get lost fast. The style of the music, the animation, and the overall story makes it one of those classic anime’s I think anyone can love.
I finally thought of the movie was that it was good. I enjoy every bit of the film and really love getting one last time to see the crew of the bebop in action. Its too back the series was shot and there was only one movie. But what can you do? With what we were give we got the top of the cake and with most anime’s, well you know how it goes. If you don’t own this movie you should head down to your local video store and buy it. Well worth the $20 price tag, in fact, you may find it cheaper now as it’s been out for some time now.
