It’s been a rough year for me, both personally and professionally here on Majin Planet. We went through some changes, a first part of the year Majin Planet was an all-to-everything style of website. This was something that I’ve done in the past with my old website that merged with Majin Planet back in 2005, XfireSystems/BansheeForce. I’ve never been really set on just making a niche website and found that I’m just not that guy who creates a number of niche websites in the means of making lots of money online.
For a good half of the year, Majin Planet was a pure Dragon Ball website again, I was doing pretty good getting daily posts out but those posts were rather dull. Manga posts which were pretty much the same content only each one was a different manga issue for Dragon Ball Super. Same was happening for the episode pages I was making.
Back to my Roots
I think the biggest issue was that Majin Planet, while it was created by Majin Mebs back in December of this every day in 1999 sole reason was not a Dragon Ball fansite. One thing that both Mebs and Trunks said, that I’ve done something they never could do; that made it my own.
Majin Planet is about change, about being who you are. Not caring what others say. Sure other webmasters will point out that if I made this site a niche website I could target the ads better. I could target banners, etc, etc. Truth is, while yes I’d love to make money from Majin Planet to pay for it. Truth is, I’ve been paying for my own website(s) since 1996. Any money I’ve ever made has been put back into the website by means of a contest or buying upgrades.
Not only did we get the monthly events going again, heading into next year; but we also started two podcasts. Three Fat Guys Pokemon Go and The Majin Cast. Still under works but it’s coming along well. The first episode of The Majin Cast was over 4 hours long and featured myself and Verto, staff member and writer of Dragon Ball V fan fiction. The unboxing videos and reaction videos I think have done well on YouTube, which has been the main focus. I find that I can write a really good posts once in a while, but I’ve found that doing video work is more fun. I’m going to start doing over writing a post just doing a video about it. However I wanted to share this in a post format for everyone but I’ll also do a video as well.
17 Years of Destruction
While Majin Planet by far is not the oldest Dragon Ball base website to still be around in terms of fans. I know there are countless others still around and I know there are tons of fan pages still that exist. Sure they might not be super updated, but heck at least I try.
I think the ending of the year has come at a great cost but we’re going to end this with a big blast! Starting at 2:30pm CST Majin Planet will go live with the preshow, showcasing the history of Majin Planet’s best Music Videos, the show will start at 3:05pm and we’ll kick it off with some discussions, and then the Fight Club event to crown the next Fight Club Champion. I’m gonna have pizza for myself, drinks and some guest will show up here and there. I won’t say who because if I do and they can’t make it, then well I made a promise that wasn’t kept.
Watch it Live!
You can watch the event 17 Years of Destruction; The Fight Club live on YouTube, Twitch or Hitbox. You choose the format in which you wish to watch. I know many people use YouTube and Twitch more so than Hitbox, but it’s another outlet. Next year we’re looking into streaming to more services as well hopefully to Facebook. I’ll also be streaming behind the scenes with Facebook, I’ll be hitting the snapchat and Instagram with photos of the event so don’t miss out on following us there.
I shall see everyone at 3:00pm CST Today live, bring your questions, oh and the game we’re streaming is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2!
