Over the last few days, I’ve been doing a lot of backend coding and cleanup across the site. The biggest focus has been the Watch page and the watch listing pages, which are now much closer to what I’ve wanted them to be. The goal is to make it easier to find the kind of content you want without everything feeling like it is thrown into one big pile.

I’ve also been building out better filters and sorting tools behind the scenes. Pages like Watch and Topic pages can now show different content depending on what the page is meant for, which should help users get to reactions, toy videos, events, legacy content, and other sections faster.

The new Events and Legacy pages are also part of this bigger cleanup. I’ve been working on turning more of the site into organized pillar content, so Majin Planet feels easier to explore and not just like a random archive of everything I’ve made over the years.

The Podcast and Music Video sections still need their own UI updates, but those will come later. I only had a four-day weekend, and between cleaning, other projects, and real life, most of my time went into coding, testing, and breaking stuff.

I also soft-launched XfireSystems.com as a separate place for web design, app programming, and more technical posts. That kind of content feels a little too far outside the main focus of MajinPlanet.com, so XfireSystems gives it a better home.

Still a lot more to do, but the site is moving in the right direction.

Just a quick update on the site design.

I’m currently in the middle of reworking MajinPlanet.com, so some parts of the site may look different, unfinished, or a little inconsistent while I move things around and test ideas.

The goal is to bring Majin Planet back closer to the feeling of the older/classic layouts, while still keeping the site modern, readable, and easier to use. The colors are mostly where I want them, and I’m using the site’s global color settings so everything stays consistent, but I’ve realized some of the newer sections started to feel too clean and corporate. In some places, the design was drifting into more of a tech-site look, and that is not really what Majin Planet should feel like.

Majin Planet should feel like Majin Planet: fandom, archives, old internet energy, videos, reactions, collecting, Dragon Ball roots, AMVs, projects, community, and all the weird stuff that has been part of the site over the years.

So this is not the final design.

Over the next week, I’ll be going back through the pages and reworking the layout, especially the sections that feel too generic or too much like a business/tech site. Some pages may change more than once as I figure out what works best.

The direction I’m aiming for is:

A more classic Majin Planet feel
A cleaner modern structure
Less generic card/box layouts
More personality and fandom energy
Better use of old site history, images, and archive material
A design that feels like a real home for the Planet, not just another template

Maybe it's working, removing extra code, using AI to aid me in both writing, collecting my thoughts and simply getting ideas. One of the big changes I made was not removing older posts that where more like site updates than content worth reading.

The best part of the forums is I can have those updates of information that is useful to those who want to know the behind the scenes stuff, but doesn't really effect the sites SEO to be ranked.

Whu is ranking imporant? Well the idea is people find the site by blog x, y, z and if enough people find the site, 1 out of even a 100 people who view the site, join and become a member of the community, heck that is better for all of us.

So that is the main reason, but doesn't mean odd projects here and there. I've also taken a step back from writing 7 days a week. Don't get me wrong, I could if I had all the time in the world write 2-3 times a day. But is that useful to you? Not really. I'd rather have 8 really good posts than 30 poor posts. Its not a numbers game.

That being said, I have uploaded Lord Steel's videos and after I made my update to the watch page, it's time to work on that music video page form being a simple "feed" page and to something of value so you can find the videos you wanna watch yourself.

With all the work I put into the last patch update, especially setting up the variables and handling most of it inside WordPress itself, changing the colors was actually a lot easier than it would have been before. I did not have to go back and rework every page from scratch just to make things fit.

Now granted, there were still a few things that needed fixing. Some of the headers did not work well with black text over a black overlay, but that was an easy fix.

I also reformatted a few things across the site. One of the bigger changes is that the Watch page is no longer just for reactions. I merged toy videos, unboxings, music videos, and reactions into the same section. So now, for example, choosing the Super Sentai tab will show all Super Sentai-related videos, including reactions, time-based reactions, edited reactions, extended cuts, unboxings, and toy reviews.

I also went through and simplified the menu and the overall navigation. I was never fully happy with the side menu. I remember finding a very minimalist website back around 2012, and that style always stuck with me. So I tried to move the site a little more in that direction while still keeping a lot of the same Majin Planet elements.

The homepage got a full rework, and honestly, I think it works a lot better now. The footer was also cleaned up because I felt like it had become too much. No pages were removed, though. Everything is still there, just organized a bit better.

If you found your way here from the Start Here page, that has also been shifted more into a proper landing page instead of feeling like just another regular part of the site.

You can still get to the old Music Video section, and I will be adding a Music Video tab to the Watch page soon as well.

Overall, the site loads faster, feels cleaner, and I think it works better on mobile now.
