It’s finally come, after a month of everyone talking about the coming of the Black Goku and the return of Future Trunks. There have been many pictures all over the internet, TV, trailers, and interviews for over a month now. The time has come, the Future Trunks saga has begun.
Today I’m gonna clear up a few things I spoke about in my last theory post about Future Trunks and Black Goku or as he is now known as simply Black. I’ll get to this near the end of today’s post.
Also, there will be spoilers to Dragon Ball Super Episode 47 so if you have not watched the episode yet, then please turn back now as this post will have spoilers for the episode. You have been warned.
Black is Revealed
This has become rather dark in the new episode of Dragon Ball Super, episode 47 for anyone who has been complaining that Super was bad, bad animation not worth the time of day. Well, this was what we all been waiting for. The truth is the anime has not had much of those issues in a long time, I believe the last time I even noticed an issue was back in like episode 18-20 range if even that.
I will be honest with you, Black looks really evil, even more, deadly and more powerful than Cell, than Kid Buu, heck even more so than anyone they have ever faced before. I mean when you take a look at the world Future Trunks lives in now, you see no one other than Bulma, Mai, and Trunks. You see no people, nothing. This was nothing like the future time we saw his world back when 17 and 18 were having their fun.
Back then we at least saw people hiding, news reports doing what they could to warn people. Here, nothing it’s as if everyone is dead now and there is nothing left to really safe.
I like how they showcase Trunks becoming more powerful as he does have a small fight with Black coming in after he kills Mai who tried to stall for him to get away with the time fuel. It looks like Trunks will only have a one-way trip to the past this time. Something to make a note of as I don’t recall if they stated what powered the time machine in DBZ, it was just said energy so I’m gonna guess it was the same energy, given the state of the worlds it was much easier to create this energy back then than currently with Black running around.
Is this the same Future Trunks?
Yes, in my past theory post where I spoke about this being really the Trunks who is a child currently in Super. I thought given that Mai was there and seem to be dating Trunks to which they are doing or at least hinted at in Super with young Trunks and Mai. There was also some information that suggested that it was NOT the same Trunks we met back in the Cell Saga back in Dragon Ball Z.
So for anyone who read that post, I would like to point out that it’s not different Trunks, it’s the same Trunks as he himself has a flashback of those events stating that his friends in the past are his only hope now.
I did want to clear this up with the readers of Majin Planet as we’re not a website that gives miss information but it was, however, my take on the photos, information that I read and how I felt they would make it different in terms of the story. That being said let’s move on.
Why is Future Trunks’ hair Blue?
I’ve been reading many fans talking about why his hair color is blue and not a pink/purple color it was before. So far it has not yet really been revealed how much time has past in Future Trunks world. It could be a few years after he killed Cell, it could be 5 years. I’m hoping that next week they reveal how long it has been in terms of how much older Future Trunks is now.
In DBZ, Future Trunks was about 18 years old I believe, given his training in the Room of Spirit and Time, for a total of 2 years when Future Trunks was at least 20 years old. I wasn’t able to say they stated it was a year later after he had defeated the Androids, to which Cell of that timeline appeared.
So taken all that into account, Bulma hair in Dragon Ball was a very light color, given if you look at the anime or the first Dragon Ball movie which was more or less a retelling of the first 13 episodes more or less of Dragon Ball, Bulma’s hair was, in fact, pink color.
Some people, in fact, have a lighter hair color when they are younger only for it to become darker as they grow older. So I’m gonna say that it’s safe to say that Trunks’s hair color becomes darker as he got older. So we could be seeing Future Trunks who is, in fact, closer to his 30’s.
Is Black really an Evil Goku?
No, I’m gonna come out and say this right now, that this is not the Goku, it’s not an evil Goku and if it is I’d be totally shocked. Given the way he was showcased and even calling Trunks at the end a Saiyan saying, “Today is when you die, Saiyan.” it’s really odd to me that even if say Goku was from another universe was evil would refer to Trunks as such like that.
Yes, Black does look like Goku but this Black Goku looks a bit slimmer down and could very easily be some sort of creation or clone of Goku. Maybe he is Goku in some form but being controlled by the new villain who we had not known at all about until Episode 47’s intro.
There is yet another clue given as to this is not Goku. Trunks started to Mai that he found him, that he was now able to find his Kai, which even if this was Goku or some evil version of him I believe he would be able to feel his kai. Given that Black has to be at least way stronger than Goku and Vegeta as Super Saiyan Blue for them to even be worried about this.
Black is not the main Villian
Back when it was first revealed that Future Trunks was returning and being with his news of a new threat from the future. It was also revealed the reason for choice in hair color for Super Saiyan Blue, that it was gonna be white but they opted against it due to it clashing with a future villain. Many fans and including myself pointed at a number of characters.
Here is the opening of Dragon Ball Super episode 47, we get the first look at this strange character who appears to be a kai with green color skin, spiked white hair and also has the same earring on as Black. It also could be that this new mastermind behind Black could just be a Makaioshi.
The simple fact we as a fandom didn’t even get anything out on this guy is amazing. With the way the world is now with the internet and everything, things get spoiled all the time. We’ll just have to, however, wait until next week, Episode 48 to find out more about what happened in Trunks world and who Black is and who is behind everything.
Is Black the result of Goku getting too strong?
Crazy theory I just had white writing this post up. What if Black is Goku. Let’s say that Goku died and when he was up there kept training. There would be no reason he would not be allowed to keep his body. Piccolo even stated this in the Buu Saga to Vegeta.
It would be safe to say that even up to the point when Goku died in Future Trunks’ timeline he had well earned his place up there. To which point just like after he died against Cell and went up to the otherworld and trained, I see no reason why Goku wouldn’t do the same of that time.
What if Goku became so powerful that someone tricked him and the result of his power became evil? After all, I don’t think Black will become a Super Saiyan at all. I’m sure he will have some sort of powerful form. Even with what little information has been given I believe firmly that Black is not a Saiyan.
Future Trunks reaction
I know everyone is thrilled about Future Trunks returning and everything but I think my biggest thrill is going to be his reaction to everyone and how they changed the last he saw them. I mean think about this, The last time he saw them, he was aware of Super Saiyan 2 when Goku transformed. To him, that was the peak of his race and power. Just to see the reaction when to say Black shows up in that time and Goku and Vegeta go right into Super Saiyan Blue mode.
It’s gonna be great and I can’t wait to see how the whole thing plays out. I’m hoping that it plays out a while and isn’t a short story, I do believe that because bother Bulma and Mai was killed by Black I wouldn’t be shocked if they also kill Future Trunks. I know that would upset a whole lot of fans but I can see them doing that for just more shock value to the show and the story itself.
