What’s up everyone, this is the NU. I know right? Anyways I wanted to do my comeback post here on Majin Planet as some of you might notice that there are a lot of posts now that have changed who wrote them from Dick Armadillo back to The NU and some even changed to Focushot. So to give everyone a quick run down of this change, The NU is me as well as Focushot is also me. Focushot is my online persona that I used for mainly Xbox and Blizzard games. This is because I ran Hunter Mastery as Focushot and I also used that online name tag for Xbox Live. That being said I’ll be writing up a post to explain the difference and those changes will affect future videos.

No Nintendo Switch Reaction Video
Okay, I’ve spoken to some of my friends about this fact with the changes within Nintendo they were dropping the whole claiming every video no matter what. This is really stupid in my opinion. Again another topic for another day; so not to waste my time trying to get around a copyright claim on the channel I just gonna write about it.
With that my general reaction is both, wow that is really cool too are you kidding? So it’s a tablet. Yes for anyone who has a question as to why I feel this way, just look at the damn thing.
The Nintendo Switch is a Fucking Tablet
I mean seriously, I don’t want to be that guy who says that the Nintendo Switch sucks because the trailer they showed up REALLY told us nothing. Yes, we saw footage of some games that are really cool to see BUT they have in the past used game footage that wasn’t really running on the real hardware of the system itself.
We know some information about what kind of Chip set the system will have, we’ve seen all the features of the system but we have not see the status yet. We don’t know what kind of memory it will have. Will it have a hard drive? Will there will be any online features? What about my library of Nintendo Games I bought in the Nintendo Store on the Wii U? Will there be a fee for online play if we have it?
So many questions left unanswered and the biggest shock of the release of the systems was; it’s being released March of 2017! What?
So soon? I might get the Switch
Yes, March 2017 isn’t that far off. It’s already October 2016. I was shocked, to be honest, I didn’t think they would release it until sometime late next year. But we’re getting it March and I’ll tell you something. I might get it.
Crazy right? Well, let me look at some things that I find cool, while the Switch is a tablet, let’s face it. It’s a tablet that you plug into a docking base which is hooked up to your TV. So you’re basically streaming the Tablet to your TV.
Earlier this year there was a rumor that it was going to be a handle system that plugs into a base. While plugin to that base it would give the handle more power and would also be attached to a cloud system, making it even more powerful by drawing power from other NX’s from the cloud.
Of course, we all know that the whole Cloud thing was false yet we don’t know if the Base will make the system stronger vs not being in the base. I’m going to guess like most tablets that the tablet part will charge while in the base and likely also come with a USB charging cable to charge when not near the base.
The good and the bad
Let me look at some of the good things I think will come from the Nintendo Switch:
- Combines home and portable into a single unit
- Many different control options.
- Games will be sold on small SD card-sized memory cards.
Now some of the things I find to be bad about the Switch:
- Powered by a version of Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor.
- Many different publishers and developers have pledged involvement.
- Too many different control options.
- Games will be sold on small SD card-sized memory cards.
Now look at that list of things I personally find good and bad you might have some questions so I’ll break them down below for you.
Home & Portable is a Good Thing
Being able to take your game you’re currently playing and then take it on the go with you and still be able to progress is AMAZING. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent on trying to figure out how to get World of Warcraft to work on my Cell Phone while I’m not home. Games that have PC versions as well as mobile versions like for example; Hearthstone are really big. I could really nitpick here but I can’t find anything bad about this feature, sure we’ve seen games that allow you to login to your account both on your PC and phone and progress but never have we had a whole system do it.
Many Control Options Good & Bad!
The Nintendo Switch allows you to use something called the Joy-Con Grip which is just a base control which looks a heck a lot like the Dreamcast controller, it, however, has two side bases which two controllers attached to it called Joy-Cons. Really Nintendo with your names! They are basically smaller versions of the remote and nunchuk attachment from the Wii and Wii U systems. Other than they are reversed of each other when attached to the Joy-Con Grip.
That is your main controller, now I’m not sure if they will allow you to used two or more Joy-Grips and the reason for this is because of the other options. You can remove the Joy-Cons and use them just like you could the Wii Remote. On the older Nintendo and Super Nintendo games on the Wii and Wii U you turned the Remote to the side and it worked just like those old school controllers from back in the day.
For the Nintendo Switch, they work the same way with a full set of buttons + the stick for moving. You can use something called the Pro Pad, which they have had since the Wii which was used to play N64 and Game Cube games but could also be used for any of the games. This looks pretty much like a cross between the Wii U Pro controllers and the Xbox 360 controller.
Now this is really cool, but I also feel giving so many options can be a bad thing. It all depends on how they market this. Will every Nintendo Switch system come with a pro controller? What if you want to play 4 players? Like, say Mario Party, Mario Kart, etc. Normally they are 2-8 players. So this will be something to look into. Plus the controllers are small, so for someone like me with big fingers, it might be a problem.
Publishers and Developers Support the Nintendo SwitchNow I listed this as bad, why you might ask me. The reason is while they have gone on and said, yeah all these publishers and developers are on board with the Nintendo Switch do we know if we’ll even get the games? Will we get nothing but ported games from PC/Xbox/PS4? Or will we get new games? I’m a big hater on games that are ported even more so when they have been out for years and get ported to the next system. I find it lazy development. While I know it’s not super easy to do it, it easy easier than building a new game.
We’ll have to really just wait and see what happens, while Nintendo has their own list of in-house games we’ll get. They did show some 3rd Party games so we’ll see how much support they get.
Games will be sold on small SD card-sized memory cards
This again I feel can be a very good and cool thing and a bad thing. Yes, SD cards have been used for the 3DS for a long time now. Also some of those games are amazing. The question is while the 3DS is awesome it’s still mobile gaming and I don’t expect the game to look as amazing on a small screen as they do on a home console.
But the Switch is both.
So the question is because the Nintendo Switch is both will it have the best of both worlds? Meaning while you’re at home on the console base it will look and feel like you’re playing on a home console. Then you slide the tablet part out, attached the Joy-Con’s to the sides and it becomes a hyper-bred of a tablet and 3DS.
So many questions which I think the closer we get to March will be released to us. Which leads me to something else which makes me worry about something. I’ve watched a number of people like Angry Joe, Boogie2988 and others talk about the Nintendo Switch and while some have talked about the power of the thing; no one has talked about the internet.
Nintendo Switch Might not have Online Gaming
Because they didn’t talk about whole the system will work in terms of online community and gaming makes me wonder that Nintendo is going to keep the Switch to local gaming. They can very easily give it Wifi options. Which it might have just like the 3Ds has. However, I don’t think Nintendo will embrace online gaming like Xbox and PS4 have over the years.
I feel that we’ll have about the same level of online features the Wii U has. Maybe some others which will limit the games. You won’t have games like Call of Duty not having multiplayer modes. Again I hope that I am wrong on this.
The Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor
Now I don’t know much about the Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor, but what I do know it’s one of the best ones out there. Is it as good as say the processor of that is on the Xbox or PlayStation?
The Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor is said to be the fastest mobile processor currently on the market, which is amazing, that is why I feel it’s bad. Nintendo really gave us a supercharged tablet this time vs a home console. Which I feel is the right move because Nintendo has realized that mobile gaming is making a ton of money with the micro-transactions from them. Just look at how big Pokemon Go was. What if they give us Pokemon Go on the Switch and let us log into our account? It could be a good way to make it so you get the battle and training features only of you’re playing on the Switch vs mobile phone or tablet.
While a good move it’s also a bad move because we don’t know the full specs of the system. Just because something has the best processor if the machine is underpowered or not enough memory or if the software is bad. This is again just my opinion and I only did some research into the Nvidia’s Tegra mobile processor. We do know that is is a custom one so again we have no information as of yet.
Buy the Nintendo Switch or not?
Do I want it? Yeah, it does remind me a bit of the old school N64 which was THE best console Nintendo ever made and I was hoping that they would go back to those basics of focus on gaming which I do feel they have. Nothing about media features such as having Vudu, Netflix, or any other stuff like that. Seems to be 100% focused on gaming this time.
I will likely buy it if I’m able too and more than likely do a live opening and setup of the Switch in March. So we’ll see how cool it is once we get it. We’ll find out more as time goes and likely do a follow-up video later once more information is out there. Let me know in the comments on what you think about the path Nintendo is taking with the Nintendo Switch? Do you like it? Do you hate it?
