So today on my facebook, I saw a video of Gogeta vs Broly and it seemed as if it was promoting the new Broly card in the Mobile Game Dragon Ball Legends. Which is cool I think, I mean we get all kinds of cool stuff in the games and stuff. Like Super Saiyan Blue Goku from Super vs Super Saiyan 4 Goku who is from another timeline in Heroes. Cool stuff like that.
That was only part of what this was, I suppose I was once again late to the party. Officially it was revealed today that Gogeta, is officially in the film. Now I have some questions, while this is super cool and all. I mean now we have both of Goku and Vegeta’s fusions officially canon.
The Fusion Dance
Okay, let’s all be real here. Goku teaching Vegeta the future dance in like less than 20 mins in the Fusion Reborn film was silly. Even more silly that they got it right after just the second try. Now SURE Goku and Vegeta are way more skilled warriors than Goten and Trunks who took a few days and hours inside the room of spirit and time to be able to do it.
But really? It was one of those things, you had to turn your brain off for, even as a Dragon Ball fan.
Now… it was hinted at, in Super that if Goku and Vegeta really worked together, they could defeat anyone. I’m sure others took that as fusion just as I had. When Goku and Vegeta went into the time chamber and came out with beards, they hinted at something. But I might have to go back because I never saw what they hinted at.
Could it have been fusion?
The Manga has done a better job at explaining why Super Saiyan God is still a thing. Think of Super Saiyan God as their new base form. The blue hair is when they turn into Super Saiyan’s using the power of Super Saiyan God. Sort of how normally they have black hair and turn Super Saiyan with golden hair.
So they have explained that the Red hair uses far less power than Blue.
Even when they did Vegito, I question the need for fusion and it seemed like Vegeta hates the idea of them joining bodies, even when they learn it will only last an hour. Fusion Dance is an even shorter time, 30mins. If you go by the Buu saga, it was stated that going Super Saiyan 3 drain the time even more, which is why Gotenks time ran out in less time.
What about Ultra Instinct?
But even with Ultra Instinct and Royal Blue for Vegeta, is fusion even needed? I am in fact happy. I hope that in some way, Goku and Vegeta together beat Broly than it just being Goku doing it on his own. So far it the trailers showed them working together. Maybe the attack of them together is after the fusion doesn’t work or time runs out.
Honestly, I really figured the film’s final battle would be Goku unlocking UI again and beating Broly that way. I was even thinking we’d see Vegeta pushed his new form a bit more.
So honestly I’m really happy that the film seems to be breaking the DBZ model of how they’ve done films and I can’t wait to see it next year in English.
