So over the last week, while everyone is starting to work more due to the holidays, myself working in retail. So it’s been busy and I haven’t ignored the website. I do a lot of things no one really sees, planning, and all that. I have been rather bad at doing updates for you guys and for that I’m dearly sorry.
Writing is something I enjoy doing, and something I need to do more of. That being said, of course, everyone might have noticed the change in the layout. A simple darker theme I believe fits best for Majin Plane’ts tone.
I will say that I truly believe a white tone works better, but a website’s tone is all about its theme, the colors. Setting the mood, etc. Majin Planet over the years has always been a focus on three colors, Black, Green, and Red. I try and think of the website’s overall theme colors and tone sort of like how Goku’s transformation has been over the years.
New Majin Planet (again?)
Really I want to look at it within the tones of the themes at Majin Planet vs the look. As I was saying, I like to think the earlier years of Majin Planet, before the Domain Name was more like Goku in his base. Sort of all over, simple-minded. Not that it was a bad thing, everyone back in 1999 had simple layouts, and they were also a mess.
I like to think of Majin Planet being in that weird Super Saiyan-Super Saiyan 2 range around the time Majin Trucks had the website. I say that because really it’s hard to tell between the two forms in the show and the tone of Majin Planet back then was always changing.
Just like in the show, Goku underwent a number of different forms until Gohan reached Super Saiyan 2.
Even if you toss in the fillers, you had Super Kaio-Ken which was basically the first time Goku used Kaio-Ken with Super Saiyan (later using it with Blue in Super).
My point is, Majin Trunks had a great run, the content was great, super in fact. But the tone was always ever changing. Having said that, I like to think of my first run, as the ower, webmaster of Majin Planet from 2005 to 2008 was that of Super Saiyan 3. It looked amazing, but it lacked in sustain.
Just like Super Saiyan 3, which again wasn’t a bad thing. I worried too much on it looking and working good vs making sure I just did good content for everyone.
As you can guess it faded rather quickly which is what I like to call the Black Years now for Majin Planet between 2008 and 2012. In that time, I was doing other stuff some of which wasn’t even website related.
As some of you might remember, it was around this time in 2013 I tried a number of things to bring the website back. Which was hard and very limited due to my personal life. I had my moments and then dead time again.
It wasn’t until almost 2015 that I started to get things more on track and as some of you recall, went back to the roots of Dragon Ball. After all, just a year before the Battle of Gods came out and another movie was on the way shortly after.
While I did try to keep things simple, I just couldn’t talk all about Dragon Ball all the time, while I gave it a good run I found myself just not doing updates. This might be due to the fact most of my friends aren’t all that into the show.
Some are, they enjoy it but not to the point of debating and deep diving into the lore. With most of the ‘fan’ base websites gone and those that stay become more of a company and focused on the news with access to things I never would have. Let’s face it, never gonna be able to compete with Kanzenshuu.
Star Wars and Magic
While on the subject of content, while again I love to talk about Dragon Ball I have other passions and while I know in my heart if I picked on the subject I like and put 110% into it, I would have a hit website. Just like back in 2010-2013 I ran Hunter Mastery, which was focused on World of Warcraft Hunters and Gold Making as one.
I had a lot of passion for it and that was my prime focus. Plus I was playing the game hardcore at the time too. Even after my personal life changed. When things became a bit crazier for me and I wasn’t able to put 10 hours a day in playing a video game. It went well until the sort of fall of World of Warcraft Gold Blogs in 2014.
Just like I’ve talked about Star Wars before here, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Just never really dived deep. I’ve tried a lot of things, but I do feel if I focus Majin Planet about me, the things I like and enjoy. I’ll find someone or others like me.
While one day I might write about the new Star Wars film or idea or something about it, someone who reads the blog might not like it. So they won’t read. Which is a problem, because if I go a week writing all about Star Wars those who don’t like it, will stop coming to read.
Heck, all he writes is Star Wars now, blah.
But when I switch it up to say talk about Transformers or Magic the Gathering, those who loved my Star Wars stuff will be disappointed.
So you can understand the problem with having a blog about everything. However, I did figure something out. While I don’t think I should write long blogs about one subject, but talking about how I feel about something and how it can relate to someone.
That’s something I think I can write about and even someone who dislikes the subject can still enjoy reading. At the end of the day, it’s all about having readers. It’s not about making money, or how many visitors we have. Hell, I don’t even look anymore.
Money is money, I have ways to make money. Would I love to make blogging fulltime? Maybe, I say maybe because if I really did, I think I’d focus more on doing it than watching a movie.
Magic That Gathering and More
So last thing I wanna talk about, I’ve been a Magic Player for like ever, jump in and out twice already and restarted my collection twice too. So I wanna talk about it, but I don’t wanna talk about, hey this is how you build a deck or this is the best card.
I’m not a pro player, I have no reason to ever be one. While most of my games now are with friends. Some of which don’t even spend nearly as much as I have. Right now, as of this blog, I have four Legacy Decks which are rather good for me, one Vintage deck and 3 Modern Decks. I also have 1 Standard Deck in the works, which honestly, is how I’m always gonna do it. That’s something I might write about, why I focus more on Modern/Legacy vs Standard.
I will leave this Sunday’s entry with a promise. That while right now I don’t think I’m gonna hit that post every day. I will try and write about where my passion is. So you might get a burst of one or two subjects now and then. I will, however, make two promises on top of that.
There will always be a Sunday wrap up post. Sort of a here is everything, maybe you might like something. Because you might ignore a few posts but missed one you really liked.
For the last one, I will also start up the Majin Cast again. Yeah, almost a page of words and I didn’t talk about it until now.
Well, I wanted to save it for last. The Majin Cast will start over, relaunch again in December. I will do them once a week and the time frame will be about 30min shows. I don’t plan on doing them live yet. I’m gonna keep them simple.
Hopefully, I’ll get some people to stop by and just chat with me and do some short shows, to which point I’ll have them out later in the week. That’s all for now, thank you if you read this far. More to come, I’m still working on fixing errors on the layout. I’m just one person so please bear with me.
