This is likely a big question of debate in the Dragon Ball community or more so those who visit Majin Planet, coming here to watch episodes. Okay, so I’ll admit something I did start posting episodes here as a way to start drawing in traffic. Hoping to bring those watching to reading. Maybe even pull in some new people to the YouTube Channel and more, like Twitch, etc.
So maybe that is a big mistake on my part, but that isn’t the reason I haven’t posted a new episode, nor is it me feeling bad for maybe misleading you. There has been a big hit on a number of websites on Dragon Ball Super content, mainly uploading full episodes. A friend of mines site was hit and to be honest, his site while new in ranking was also graining big grounds due to having full episodes.
Is Having Full Episodes bad?
Yes, sort of well yes there is no way around saying it. Full episodes of any anime are illegal, to be honest. While there is a sort of grey area between fansubs while some animes are never seen in the United States I still feel a good amount of Japanese people still watch even fansubs. That brings the bigger question is building a website around full episodes a good thing? Yes and no. Truth be told, having full Dragon Ball Super episodes of a series and keeping up with new episodes weekly keeps people coming back for more. I debated this a number of times in the good old days as I like to put it back on a website called Ani-CC. The biggest truth behind it all that some people made money from it.
Yes, people make loads of money from subs
Almost every fansub group never charge anyone for their subs. Generally making them within hours of the airing, sharing them on IRC and other outlets of free sharing services. Yet some people would hold that behind a paywall. Yes, some people have issues or unable to use IRC (maybe even unwilling) others don’t like to use BitTorrent or such services out of fear of their ISP catching them.
In the old days, it was all about downloading while today it’s all about streaming services now. I can only guess how much money many websites make taking something free, that they downloaded and hosting. The reasons to charge is how much space and monthly bandwidth these websites need to host such content. Anyone remember NarutoFan? The biggest scam to ever hit the Anime Community and yet most people will remember them as one of the best websites for fans. Of course, after the website’s domain name was taken from them, they moved to another domain, But after time that even faded, the community has kept going over on their forums.
Truth be told, yes the community forums might have been the biggest at the time, the truth was the way they got there was shady and many would like to ignore that. After all, you’re just bitter because you didn’t think of it first!
Majin Planet & Dragon Ball Super Episodes
Funny how Majin Planet having ‘low’ traffic saved us from being hit with any sort of letter to pull down the episodes we have up. Which isn’t many episodes, to be honest. But I was really keeping up with it until I saw that a few streaming sites that I myself used to watch them every Saturday night after work had been shut down. Then there was my friend’s site went down.
While I never asked him directly had he really gotten a letter or lost his server, he posted it not just on his Facebook fan page but his personal Facebook as well. That beyond everything was enough for me. I suppose I laid low and so far we are okay. Even with having all the music videos that Majin Planet has on the YouTube Channel. While most of them are blocked from making any money on; while sure I don’t plan on making money on them because they are created for your entertainment.
