Trying to catch up with my reviews of the Regular Show, this week, season 4 episode 35 (overall 113) is all about Muscle Man and how he’s finally decided or force to go on a diet. But before he does he wants one day where he eats all his favorite foods. There is a catch however, he doesn’t want Starla to find out so Muscle Man asked Mordeica and Rigby to help him out in lying to her.
To be honest with you, this isn’t really one of my favorite episodes to date this season. Sure it has some pretty good gags and everything is solid. Animation is still good, the voice acting is great. Things like that can suffer in later seasons when you lose writers, try to save money even end up losing voice actors. Lucky this isn’t the case for the Regular Show.
The whole episode is basically Muscle Man running around and eating everything he loves while trying no to get in trouble with Starla. I can’t really tell you too much because nothing really amazing happens, but I have noticed as with the next episode I’ll be talking about, they seem to be doing pairs, two episodes at a time that are focus on one character, such as two episodes about Benson, etc.
When we reach near the end, Muscle Man goes head to head with Death in a Hot Dog eating contests, but he can’t keep up with Death’s Magic powers. When Starla calls to talk to him, Mordeica. Muscle Man doesn’t want to die lying to his woman so he takes the phone and tells her. However thanks to Starla Muscle Man wins thanks to this. There was one part of the episode I found hilarious, Rigby asking Mordecai “Should we tell Muscle Man there’s a hot dog sticking out of his pocket?” Mordecai tells Rigby “Nah, he’ll figure it out for himself.”
Overall as I said not an amazing episode, it doesn’t really push forward any character development like past episodes. I think I just didn’t enjoy this one as much, it didn’t get me to laugh. Again not to say it was a horrible one but I think the writers could do better. I sure hope the season end is amazing.
