The beta for Mist of Pandaria has been coming along really nicely and the one big change that I’ve been looking forward has been the profession changes. After all, we’re all about making gold here so I was really thrilled to hear about the following change in the latest beta build.
Speaking of the beta, don’t forget to check out my post about What should I stockpile in MoP. I think it’s a great change and now not needing to grind rep for our shoulder and head enchants (which are gone now) is awesome.
Ghostcrawler We decided that putting head enchants on the various faction vendors wasn’t working well with our design intent for the factions. There is a lot of max-level quest content in MoP, much of it focused around the reputation with the new factions. I think it’s really cool stuff — worlds away from the old Argent Crusade scourge stone days. 🙂
In previous expansions, the head enchants on the faction vendors served to force players into that content. You couldn’t even choose which reputation to pursue — you had to pursue the one with your specific head enchant. Our design intent for MoP is to give players options in how to play, and the head enchant design wasn’t compatible with that.
Once we decided to no longer offer new head enchants, we made the older ones non-functional or else players would feel like they had to go back to older content or be missing out on power. This way, helmets are just no longer enchantable and you’ll have one less required step to get a piece of loot ready to wear.
Shoulder enchants can now be provided by scribes, so those still exist, but they are also not part of the faction reputation system. LINK
I find this to be a massive change in terms of gold making for scribes. As it is right now, while glyphs can still make you a good amount of money, I’ve found it has to be your main market and it takes many hours of posting and crafting to make it worth it. Back in the day of Wrath, it was but today not so much.
Today I’ll make 2 of everyone and post them for 48 hours and find that about 10% of them sell bring me in about 2-3k every 3 days. This is without checking them, I have set walls I post at and leave it at that. But given Inscription was my first real gold making back in Wrath when I started, I found that I still like to keep it around as a side market.
Many people forget there are a number of other little things you can sell as a scribe, vellums, off-hands, Darkmoon cards just to name a few. But now being able to sell shoulder enchants on top of our own perk we get.. is going to be massive. As soon as this goes live in beta I’m going to be making some post about this.
I also have some new post that will come out this month so please stay tune as well as a review of a guide I pick up for cheap a few days ago.
