First Impressions Matter
With Daredevil: Born Again starting its new season, I went in expecting a strong opening, especially based on how the last season ended.
After watching the first episode, I’ll be honest, it was kind of a boring start.
That does not mean it is bad, but it definitely was not the kind of episode that pulls you in right away.
It Does Not Pick Up Where You Expect
One of the biggest things that stood out to me is that the show does not really pick up where things left off. It feels like some time has passed, and because of that, the focus shifts pretty quickly to just a couple of characters.
That is not always a bad thing, but coming off a strong ending from the previous season, it makes the opening feel a bit disconnected.
Instead of building on that momentum, it almost resets things.
The Big Moment Doesn’t Hit
There is clearly a moment early on that is meant to feel important, something that should carry weight, something that should make you feel like the stakes are high.
The problem is, it just does not land the way it should.
Without getting into spoilers, the situation involving a certain character did not really hit for me. It felt like it was trying to mirror something impactful, but it did not have the same build or emotional payoff.
And when that kind of moment does not land, it makes the whole episode feel weaker.
Character Direction Feels Off
There is also a character direction change that caught me off guard, and not in a good way.
This was someone who felt important in the last season, and now things are just… different. The issue is not that characters change, that is normal, it is that we were not really given the time to understand how or why things got to this point.
So instead of feeling like development, it feels more like a jump.
The Time Jump Problem
This is something that shows like this tend to do, and it is always a little frustrating.
There seems to be a noticeable time jump, and when that happens, it raises more questions than answers. What were these characters doing during that time? What changed? What happened in between?
When too much happens off screen, it makes it harder to stay connected to what is going on now.
So… Is It Worth Watching Right Now?
Even with all that said, I would still say it is worth checking out, especially if you were a fan of Daredevil or the character in general.
Just don’t expect a strong opening episode.
Right now, it feels more like a setup than something that really grabs your attention.
Final Thoughts
It is still early, and one episode is not enough to judge the entire season.
But as a first impression, this was a weaker start than I expected. There are some interesting ideas and a few surprises, but they come with a lot of questions, and not all of them feel intentional.
Now it really comes down to whether the next few episodes build on this… or if this slower start ends up being a sign of what’s coming.
