Running a Fansite in 2026 Feels Like Going Back in Time

The Internet Isn’t What It Used to Be

There was a time when fansites were everywhere.

Every show had one.
Every fandom had dozens.
You could search for anything and find a site made by someone who just loved the topic.

No algorithms.
No feeds deciding what you see.
No needing to post every day just to stay visible.

You made a site because you wanted to.

And somehow, that made the internet feel bigger.

Why I Still Run Majin Planet

Running a site today feels different, but it also feels familiar.

When I work on Majin Planet, I’m not just posting content.
I’m doing the same things I used to do years ago.

Writing posts.
Fixing layouts.
Changing the design for the hundredth time.
Organizing pages that most people may never even see.

And strangely, I enjoy that more than chasing views.

Because a site feels permanent in a way social media never does.

Building Something Instead of Just Posting

When you upload a video, it exists on someone else’s platform.

When you make a post on social media, it disappears in a feed.

But when you build a site, it stays there.

Every page, every post, every section becomes part of something larger.

It feels less like posting content
and more like building a place.

That is what the old internet felt like.

And that is why I still do it.

The Old Way Still Works — Just Slower

Running a fansite today will never grow as fast as it did back then.

There is more competition.
More platforms.
More noise.

But the people who find your site now usually stay longer.

They read more.
They come back.
They care more.

And honestly, that feels closer to how the internet used to be.

Why I’m Not Stopping

Even if it’s slower, even if it takes years, I like building something that feels real.

Majin Planet started as a fansite.
It’s still a fansite.
Just a bigger one now.

And in a world where everything moves fast,
there’s something nice about doing things the old way.
