Dragon Ball GT: Baby Saga

September 28, 2013

Back in September of 2010, I did a review on Dragon Ball GT: Black-Star Dragon Ball Saga and I recall it was a pretty long review and if I where to write it again would likely been done better. I’ve always wanted to finish the series doing all the saga’s of Dragon Ball GT reviews so here is the next entry into that series with the Baby Saga.

So unlike my past reviews I’m not going to go into every detail about what happen. This was however a shorter saga than the Black Star Saga, which you can read before if you like too. Basically the saga starts in the middle of the Black Star Saga. I stated at the end of that review the gang, Goku, Trunks and Pan land on M2 with their new friend Guru (who ate the Dragon Radar when they met him).

Baby the best villain in Dragon Ball GT

The villain of the saga is Baby, a Mutant Android created by Dr. Myuu who by decided as we learn later on that Baby in fact created Myuu not the other way around. But before we cross paths with him we run into General Rilldo who is the first villain of the saga and gives Goku a run for his money, given this is really the first time we get a real Dragon Ball Z style of fighting only to turn into mostly an kai blast fight in the latter part and sadly for most of the series.

Baby as I was talking about is one of the best villains that GT had to offer, the background and reasons why Baby was after the Saiayns, mainly wanting to get revenge on Vegeta to the point he takes over his body as his host. It turns out before King Vegeta was King of Planet Vegeta, it was called Planet which the peaceful Tuffle race ruled. As you know the story, the Saiyans being what they were over took the planet and killed all the Tuffle’s.

Baby was the last effort of the Tuffle race to protect their king, or something alone that line. In any event, Baby has a one-minded goal, to bring the Tuffle Race back. This lends him to Earth after he learns about it from Trunks when he enters to process him.

The reason I say this was the best Saga of GT was GT had that feeling that it would be wrapping up everything that Dragon Ball and Z had to offer. For example Baby was a good way to wrap up thew hole Saiyans ordeal but it was done poorly and rushed and in the end. I didn’t care so much about Baby and the whole Super Saiyan 4 came off to me as more a humanoid version of the Great Golden Ape.

Which for me is the true Legendary Super Saiyan Form that Vegeta told us about back in Z. The Super Saiyan everyone reaches and beyond is a mutated version because they are missing their tails. But it doesn’t matter as I believe at this point GT is seen as non-cannon to the anime is to be seen as a stand alone or alternate universe or what if this happened.
