I Stopped Trying to Turn Everything I Love Into Content

October 2, 2026

Majin’s Take

I have spent too much time thinking about what I need to upload next instead of simply enjoying the things I bought. So I am changing the way I make content. The hobby comes first again.

I think I finally figured out one of the things that has been bothering me about creating content.

I have been trying too hard to turn everything I do into content.

If I buy something, I start thinking about the video.

If I watch something, I start thinking about the reaction.

If I have an opinion, I start thinking about whether I need to write a post.

Eventually you stop asking yourself, “Am I having fun?” and start asking, “What am I going to do with this?”

I do not want to do that anymore.

I Was Creating More Than I Was Enjoying

I have spent a lot of time trying to grow Majin Planet.

There have been periods where I was trying to have something going out constantly. Videos, Shorts, reactions, website posts and everything else that comes with trying to keep a content schedule moving.

The problem is that I am one person.

And when the content is not growing the way you hoped it would, it becomes very easy to start feeling like all of that work was for nothing.

I could spend an entire day working on content and then start worrying about tomorrow before I even enjoyed what I finished today.

That is not why I started doing any of this.

Collecting Is Supposed to Be Fun

The last couple of weeks have actually reminded me of that.

I have been reorganizing my collection, tracking down Super Sentai mecha, figuring out displays, messing with combinations and buying toys from series I never collected before.

I bought the ToQger set even though I knew I probably should not be spending the money on another large toy lot right now.

But I was excited about it.

I started looking at the trains and thinking about putting actual train track into the display.

I started thinking about buying another copy of the main robot so I could show multiple combinations.

None of that started because I needed a video idea.

I just thought it would be cool.

That is the feeling I have been missing.

I Do Not Need to Post Every Day

So I have stopped forcing it.

I do not need to upload a YouTube video because a certain day arrived.

I do not need to publish something on MajinPlanet.com every day just so the website looks active.

I do not need to react to everything.

If I actually have something I want to talk about, then I will talk about it.

If I buy a toy and all I want to do is put it on the floor and mess around with it for a few hours, I can do that too.

Not everything has to become a product.

My New Plan Is Much Simpler

For YouTube, I want to make Monday my main content day.

I can pick a toy, sit down with it and record myself actually playing with it and talking about whatever comes to mind.

Then I can take that session and see what is actually there.

Maybe there is a full video.

Maybe there are some Shorts.

Maybe there are a few good three-minute clips.

Maybe there is nothing worth uploading.

And that last option needs to be okay too.

I would rather start with something I genuinely wanted to do and find the content inside it than decide I need content and force myself to create something around that requirement.

I Also Need to Change How I Talk About Things

This is something else I have noticed about myself.

I think some of my frustration has started coming through in the content.

My Red Dragon Sword video got comments from people who felt I was being too negative about the toy.

At first, I looked at it as me pointing out flaws. There were things compared with the original that bothered me, including areas that were not painted and limitations with how I thought it looked on display.

But thinking about it afterward, I realized I probably spent more time explaining what bothered me than talking about what I actually liked.

That does not mean I am suddenly going to pretend every toy is amazing.

If something sucks, I am still going to say it sucks.

But there is a difference between giving an honest opinion and automatically looking for everything that is wrong.

I do not want collecting to become that either.

Final Thoughts

Majin Planet is still important to me.

I still want to make videos. I still want to write. I still want to share my collection and talk about the things I enjoy.

I just do not want every waking hour of my life to revolve around producing the next piece of content.

I would rather make less and actually enjoy making it.

And maybe the funny part is that the content will end up being better because of it.

If I am excited about what I am doing, that should come through naturally.

So for now, I am going back to something much simpler.

Buy toys I actually want. Play with them. Build the collection I want to see. Talk about something when I actually have something to say.

The content can come after that.

What do you think? Have you ever turned a hobby into so much work that you had to remind yourself why you enjoyed it in the first place?
