Dragon Ball Super Episode 131 Spoilers

There are many fans out there who believe that Dragon Ball Super ending this month is a joke. I’ll admit when I first heard the news I thought as such as well. Seemed too strange to me that with how big Dragon Ball is, across media that a show as popular as Dragon Ball Super would be ending. Here is the thing many fans don’t really understand or get. Dragon Ball Super was not canceled, Dragon Ball GT was that was why it’s only 64 episodes.

The rating for GT was horrible, overall fans hated it. Dragon Ball Super rating is fine, in fact like any show it has it’s up’s and downs. If Dragon Ball Super was doing so bad that they choose to end it after 131 episodes they wouldn’t be putting a movie out this year. This is where I believe the reason they are ending Super now on a high note. The movie.

Early on in Super, there was some much debate over the animation being crappy. This was because Toei had to outsource to 3rd party companies to get the animation done because a good part of their staff was working on at the time a One Piece movie. My guess is other than having that happen again, they are putting all the resources into the film, putting Super on a break and return in 2019 sometime. It still up in the air and all depends on the movie sales.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 131 Spoilers

Now I wanted to give you guys a moment to think about this, if you don’t wanna get spoiled, then turn back now. Because when I saw the leaks on Twitter earlier today, I had to process it a bit. First, before I tell you what the spoiler is, let me tell you how I thought the ending would go.

Goku and Jiren fight it out, no hold bars style, as to not unmind the character of Jiren, because they have done a lot of building on him, yet they have given us much. Only that his family was killed by a monster and he sought power because he couldn’t trust anyone as they all ran away when he went with them to face this threat.

Could that be something that they explore in a later series? Sure. I also am pretty sure that the manga will go past this arc which we’ll still get once a month so it’s not like Dragon Ball Super is totally done.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 131: “A Miraculous Conclusion! Farewell Goku! Until the Day We Meet Again!!” March 25th

Son Goku has fallen from the arena. It seems like Universe 7 has lost, and everyone will be annihilated, but Having broken through his limits, Goku and Jiren stare at the Omni-Kings, as if the match isn’t over yet. And then, a Death Beam hits Jiren’s back. A bruised and battered Universe 7 Team member is standing there!

Holy shit! Goku loses???

So… This is a shocker, so Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku couldn’t beat Jiren? Holy crap! I think it’s no shocker because it seems to be the kind of thing that Super has been known for. Everytime someone gains a new power-up or form they end up losing. Goku becoming Super Saiyan God loses to Beerus. Goku becomes Super Saiyan Blue, loses to Frieza, Trunks goes into Super Saiyan Rage, loses to Black/Zamasu. Vegito appears and becomes Super Saiyan Blue, time runs out and he doesn’t beat Zamasu. I could go on but if you’ve been following the show at all you get my point.

The fact that Goku loses and what I mean is he falls out. Doesn’t mean at all that MUI is weaker than whatever power Jiren has. It just means that Jiren’s power out matches MUI Goku base on the rules. Had this been a no-rules battle, meaning no falling out, not being able to fly.

I think Goku would have wrecked him at this point. You also have to take into account that for the first 30mins of the Tournament of Power, Jiren didn’t do anything (In the anime, in the Manga it does show him taking out some weaker players). As Goku was fighting the whole time. Even after their short battle where Goku first tap into Ultra Instinct which was only the defense part mind you, after that Jiren didn’t fight anyone until it came down to the last few. So given that on pure stamina and endurance Jiren wins.

Frieza Wins?

We don’t know, there are some theories that after the battles that the Omni-Kings brings all the destroyed universes back simply to have another Tournament again. Why not? I would say for the most part the whole Tournament of Power was rather fun. Longer than it should have been, to be honest, but that’s Dragon Ball time for you.

What I think happens, and some people will be upset but I do think that time will simply run out. I can’t recall if they said what the standing rule would be at the end if say more than one universe was still in it. I know before 17 and Vegeta went down, it was 4 vs 1 so in that case, Universe 7 would win. But given there is one from 11 and one from 7, would that end in a tie? If such who got to use the Super Dragon Balls?

I think to be honest even Golden Frieza is no match for Jiren and his sneaky nature in hiding and not helping Goku win it for sure. This is why I love Frieza and think he was a good choice.

Granted, I would hate for them to try and make him a good guy, I still think he’ll try something. Anything to win. One fun theory I had, was to ensure that he gets his revenge, knowing that at some point his army will try and bring him back, Frieza uses the Super Dragon Ball wish is that Beerus never wakes up, if that happens, it would mean Super never happens and such Goku and Vegeta never reach God level and never know that there is more than one universe.

Final Thought

One thing I remember reading, given the 10 year time skip in Dragon Ball Z, they said that Super will not retcon the ending of Super. That no matter what happens in Super, it will still lend to that day when they all meet up again at the Tournament where Goku meets Uub and flies off to train him. Not gonna lie, with how Super has been, I find that ending hard to happen.

In the end, I think if Super ends on a cliffhanger because I find it really hard for them to close all the plots in just this one episode to be hard. If we had 2 or three more to wrap it up, then maybe. To be honest, it’s hard to say at this point. All we know is a film is coming on this winter which will be about the Saiyans, but that’s all we know. Until we know what we can’t say it’ll be part of Super plot a new series starting like Battle of Gods was or something new. To be honest, I was hoping Super would really run all the way into that last episode of Dragon Ball Z but sadly looks like we only got 131 episodes, for a such a huge franchise it deserves more episodes.
