I’m a big fan of Transformers, in fact I could and going to write my review of Transformers, I never have because well I fear it might lend me back to my roots of writing over 2,000 word posts, I might even do it as a two-part review.
Anyways today I want to talk about the state of the Transformers films, Michael Bay and how he and the studio have raped my child hood, well sort of… not really. To be more clear I love the film because they took something I really thought could never be done, bring transformers to life in day time not night or fast action blur like most CGI characters are done in.
Point in fact today is a sort of rant about how Michael Bay makes his movies, why he is still making these films and why in the hell did the last two films make so much damn money. Seriously I was stunned when I saw Transformers, in fact I nearly cried when I saw the first transformation scenes and yes I am 110% bliss on the fact that the first film story wise and character wise was horrible.
I understand, there are people who dislike these films they hate what is called bayformers and they hate Michael Bay for his art style and directing. I sort of hate the whole, I can’t see what the heck is going on because the camera is moving a million miles around the action. Hold it steady please, I understand the style, it’s to give you the feeling of really being there.
I don’t really care, I want to see the action, I want the story to focus on the robots and not be a coming of age story and focus on a kid who has girlfriend issues. We don’t care, do you understand Michael Bay? I know you really don’t have much say on the script, even know you like to think you do. Honestly they are doing Transformers 4 and besides them changing all their alt forms and maybe updating what their robot forms look like.. it’ll be Transformers 1, 2 and 3 all over again.
What do you think about this? Are you happy they are doing another one? Maybe I’m going over board here, I mean maybe the fourth time they’ll give us a good movie, not just a lot of robot fighting and action, but a story about the robots, they have problems too you know. I get that these films require a lot of money because of the CGI, but if they would think about it for a moment.
Imagine they made a Transformers movie where even 70% of the screen time was on the robots and the story was about them and their problems I be it would make more money then they would know what to do with. I know I be damn happy and I bet every one who watched the first three would too.
